"Noisy" Bongard Problems include extraneous details that distract from the solution property varying between examples; more specifically noise is properties independent of the solution property that vary between examples. "Minimalist" Bongard Problems only vary details absolutely necessary to communicate the solution.
Bongard Problems have varying degrees of noisiness. Only include here BPs that are very noisy or BPs that are minimalist in the extreme sense; no properties vary across examples other than than those that directly depend on the solution property. Very few if any of Bongard's original Problems are minimalist. Minimalist Problems have the smallest "world" possible that can communicate the solution idea.
Left examples have the keyword "noisy" on the OEBP. Right examples have the keyword "minim." |
